Looking for Charleston SC Drummers With An Adventurous Streak
Bassist and guitarist looking for a drummer who's simple and powerful, with a strong groove. We're fairly funk and jazz oriented, although we'll get a little country here and there as well. I like the sound of smaller, vintage kits. If you sing, that's a definite plus.
We're both 32, have jobs, etc. We practice on James Island and I've got a spare kit so you don't have to lug your set everytime.
Some of the bands I dig these days: Crystal Skulls, Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens, Built to Spill - older stuff: Haggard, Waylon, Parliament, Stan Getz, Stevie Wonder, Django, Ben Folds Five...
Let's get to the songs:
- Girlfriend - good exmaple of the funk/jazz influence
- Sift - gets a little country at times, but remains fairly groovy
- Poets - rockin' out. Even gets a little flameco-y at the end.
- Swirlybird - not sure how you'd categorize this one. Country/jazz maybe?
There are more songs, but those are a pretty good cross section.
Interested? Holler at me: jason@slipangle.org. (If you've got any music you can link to or attach, do so - I'd love to give it a listen...)
And Just Because It's Badass...
Check this dude out....
